    Biography:
Dominick & Haff was founded in New York in 1872 by H. Blanchard Dominick and Leroy B. Haff, who had learned the silver trade with William Gale Jr. & Co. Originally, Dominick & Haff specialized in small, intricately crafted fashion accessories, such as chatelaines, bracelets, dress holders, purses, scarf pins, belt buckles, and combs. However, the company soon expanded its inventory to flatware and hollow-ware, after opening a new factory in 1877 in the wake of a devastating fire. Dominick & Haff’s strategic purchase in 1880 of the flatware dies of Adams & Shaw, which owned the dies of John R. Wendt & Co., further secured the company’s reputation and success. In 1928, Reed & Barton purchased and consolidated Dominick & Haff.
