In the Japonesque manner.
Luwis Jenks opened his Boston shop in 1872. He was already one of the foremost designers in Boston.
The firm was the only silver shop in Boston creating aesthetic movement silver in the Japanese taste.
Gorham hired him in 1879and acquired the entire firm in 1880.
Given the small size and very short time in business Kennard % Jenks Japonesque silver is very rare.
A larger, though with several dents, K&J mixed metal tea caddy sold at Heritage Auction, on October 18th
2016 for over ,000.00; Also, Sotheby's sold a cube shaped one for ,125.00

This Caddy is 4 1/4 inches tall and 4 1/2 standard ounces.
Hallmarked as shown, including K&J distinctive dolphin trademark.
