HYPNOTIC GLOWING RAINBOW 14" Arizona Petrified Wood Slab - Fossil Araucaria

Description

This is a perfect slab cut from the center of the log and measures about 13 5/8” x 9 1/2” across the polished face.
It weighs 5.56 pounds.
One end has been BEAUTIFULLY polished while the exterior surface has a natural texture.
The petrified wood from the extinct conifer Araucarioxylon arizonicum which happens to be the state fossil of Arizona.
The petrified wood of this tree is frequently referred to as “Rainbow Wood” because of the large variety of colors. The VIBRANT coloration is due to the contaminating minerals in the silica which replaced the original wood structure.
For example, the reds and oranges come from hematite inclusions within the silica, the yellows from limonite and the purples from magnesium based minerals.
