    Antique Chinese Round Cane and Bamboo Food Container.
    This beautiful 2 tiered food carrier is a work of craftsmanship. Four sections of split bamboo that splay out at the bottom are fastened to the bottom tier to form the sides of the handle. These are strengthened with metal strapping at the bottom. As the handle rises upwards the sections of bamboo come together to from 2 rows at the top. Another piece of wood is added for support as well as for esthetic visual lines. Wrappings of cane are added to the corners and the center section of the handle. The top of the bamboo handle has a nice cast metal handle in the center.
    The upper tier sits securely on the bottom section but can be easily lifted out. The upper section of the antique Chinese food carrier has a has a removable round lid that is woven in contrasting colored cane that form a square pattern.
    The 2 tiers have a very unusual woven pattern on the sides that have a honeycomb look.
    This food carrier is very decorative piece and is finished in a dark brown lacquer. It is as much a work of art as it is a functional piece.
